Our story
MAMA was created to address the lack of support for women to navigate the complex changes of becoming a parent. Resources, priorities, values and ambitions all shift in subtle, important ways; taking stock of this felt essential.
We have worked with hundreds of mothers at all stages of their career, and have experienced first-hand as mothers ourselves the challenges and opportunities of returning to work with a family.
Feelings of guilt, vulnerability, burnout and reduced self-confidence were the product of the split between professional and parent. We help to address and manage these important – but competing – parts of our lives.

Alice Ballantine Dykes
Founding Director & Mother
With 20 years in education as a Teacher and Consultant, before training as an Executive and Personal Coach around the birth of her second child, Alice recognised the need for a supportive space to explore her professional choices going forward. And if she needed that opportunity – who else did too?
MAMA was started to create time and space for mothers – in particular those who want to make active, positive choices about what their lives look and feel like. Losing her own mother young, Alice chose to celebrate mothers as a way of honouring her own. Now a mother to two girls, she is interested in what opportunity might look like as her daughters grow into adults.
A creative, warm, curious person, Alice enjoys exploring what it means to live a fulfilled life, designing a career that plays to her strengths and parenting in a way that feels right for her.
